Under the leadership of the IHC Executive Board, members of IHC Advocacy Board work together to meet residents' needs in their homes, while providing representatives for campus and University Housing decision-making.

IHC Advocacy Board brings together elected Senators from each community to provide feedback on housing, campus initiatives, and community involvement. Examples of Advocacy Board work include adding hydration stations and community gardens to housing as well as advising designers on new building developments.

The Residential Outreach & Leadership Office (ROLO) is the home of IHC, and is located in the community center of Cerro Vista Apartments.

Our meetings will start up Week 4 of Fall 2023. Meetings are held weekly on Thursdays from 11:10am-Noon (UU Hour) in Building 52, Room E26.

IHC Proposal Voting Process/Steps 

1. Author’s Opening Comments: The authors have two(2) minutes to make opening remarks about their proposal.  

2. Discussion: The floor is opened for questions and debate for (6 minutes). During this time, any voting representative can ask a question or series of questions to the author(s) regarding their legislation. To ask a question, raise your placard and wait to be recognized by the Speaker. Folks can provide their own arguments for or against the piece of legislation being considered and/or offer any amendments to the legislation. To go up for debate, raise your placard and wait to be recognized for debate by the Speaker.  

3. Author(s)’ Closing Comments: The authors have two (2) minutes to provide final arguments and closing comments on their legislation. The typical way to end closing comments is to encourage Senators to vote in favor of the legislation with the phrase “I move to go to a vote.” 

4. Voting: Standard voting on any legislation is done using the placard for your position.

Each voting representative is allotted a maximum of two(2) minutes for their debate. To go up for debate, raise your placard and wait to be recognized for debate by the Speaker.
